Vanguard Laboratory: A2LA Accreditation, Peptide Tests and COA Checks

Vanguard Laboratory is an A2LA-accredited lab in Olympia, Washington that also tests research peptides. Here's what the accreditation does and doesn't cover, what its peptide tiers include and how to check a report.

Vanguard Laboratory is an A2LA-accredited testing lab in Olympia, Washington, run by Olympic Analytical, LLC, that sells tiered peptide testing for purity, identity, quantity, endotoxin, sterility and heavy metals. Its accreditation is real, but the scope document we read doesn't list peptide purity testing, which matters when a vendor says its COAs come from an "accredited lab." 13 vendors in our directory cite Vanguard as of October 21, 2026.

Notice: Research peptides are sold for in-vitro laboratory research only. They are not FDA-approved, not for human or animal consumption, and this page is not medical advice. It contains no dosing or use guidance.

Who runs Vanguard Laboratory

Vanguard's about page and its A2LA certificate name the company as Olympic Analytical, LLC, doing business as Vanguard Laboratory, at 2635 Parkmont Ln SW, Suite A, Olympia, WA 98502. Its laboratory director is Dustin Newman, who signs its peptide reports. Besides peptides, it tests food, beverages, water, soil and supplements, and issues process authority letters for food makers.

"Vanguard" is a common business name. The lab that signs peptide COAs uses the Olympia address, the phone number 360-967-7010 and the domain vanguardlaboratory.com, all printed on the Peptidology COA we opened.

Accreditation: what A2LA covers

A2LA lists Vanguard under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 certificate 6377.01, valid to September 30, 2027. The scope document we read, dated December 22, 2025, covers:

  • Microbiology methods (AOAC) for foods, pharmaceuticals and surfaces, such as Listeria, Salmonella, E. coli and yeast and mold
  • Trace elements by ICP-MS (EPA 200.8, modified)
  • Parabens and preservatives (TM1314)
  • Residual solvents (TM4222)

We found no mention of peptide HPLC purity, endotoxin, USP <71> sterility or bioburden in that document. Vanguard's peptide reports refer readers to "A2LA Certificate #6377.01.01," a sub-scope we couldn't open, so we can't rule out that peptide work is covered there. Vanguard's own site says accreditation applies only to the tests and matrices in the published scope. Ask the lab which tests on your report are accredited.

Vanguard also says it's accredited by the Washington Department of Ecology and registered with the Washington Department of Health for drugs and controlled substances. We didn't independently confirm those.

What it tests and what it costs

Vanguard's peptide testing page listed these tiers on October 21, 2026:

TierPriceVialsIncludes
Silver$2501Purity, identity, quantity
Gold$5503Silver plus endotoxin and sterility (USP <71>)
Elite$7004Gold plus heavy metals

Standalone add-ons: endotoxin $210, heavy metals $150, sterility or bioburden $150, residual solvents $150, and TFA, fentanyl or vial seal integrity $50 each. The page says HPLC methods are validated to USP <1225>, endotoxin follows USP <85>, and metals (arsenic, cadmium, chromium, mercury, lead) are run by ICP-MS. Most tests take 7-10 business days. Sterility takes 14 days, so a preliminary COA may show sterility as pending.

The page doesn't say which method confirms identity. The 2025 Peptidology report we opened listed HPLC purity and assay, LAL endotoxin, ICP-MS metals and pending sterility, but no separate identity line.

How to verify a Vanguard report

  1. Check the header. It should show the Olympia address, a laboratory ID, the client, the lot and the report date.
  2. Use the lab's lookup. The Verified by Vanguard page links to a "Verify a COA" search. It says verification is lab-hosted, matched on report number, product, batch and client, and that access "depends on the report sharing settings."
  3. Scan the QR code. Vanguard says the QR code always opens the latest version of the report, which matters when sterility results arrive later.
  4. If the lookup doesn't show it, email the lab at the address on the report and ask it to confirm the laboratory ID.
  5. Match the lot to your vial.

What a Vanguard COA does and doesn't prove

It showsIt doesn't show
An A2LA-accredited lab issued the reportThat every test on it is within the accredited scope
Purity and quantity of the submitted sampleThat the sample came from your lot
Endotoxin, sterility or metals, if that tier was boughtFinal sterility, if marked pending
The client and lot the report was issued forThat other vials in the batch match

Vanguard's program page states that results "apply to the submitted sample." Read purity numbers with our HPLC purity guide and endotoxin results with the endotoxin guide.
